Hi everyone, Aiden here with etrailer. Today we're gonna be taking a look at the Yakima LongHaul hanging style bike rack and seeing how it fits on the back of our 2020 Thor Miramar motorhome. Now the LongHaul is going to be a motor home-approved bike rack and that's important to know because there is gonna be extra shock and vibration at the back of your motor home compared to a typical passenger vehicle. And the bike rack does need to be built to a certain spec to withstand that, and the LongHaul is. It's gonna lack a few features that you might be used to in other hitch-mounted racks, like a tilting feature because of that, but you really don't need it on your motor home. And the result is something that's a lot more sturdy because down there at what would be the pivot point, it's welded and bolted in. more

Hi, everyone, Aidan here at etrailer. Today, we're gonna be taking a look at the Yakima LongHaul Hitch-Mounted Bike Rack and seeing how it fits on our 2018 Thor Miramar motorhome. Now, the LongHaul is a hanging-style bike rack, which means the bike hangs by the frame down below these arms/ And this is going to be a rack designed for use with motorhomes, that's really important, because a lot of bike racks aren't approved for motorhome use. You're gonna have a lot of extra shock and vibration back here compared to your typical passenger vehicle, and the bike rack needs to be built to withstand that, and the LongHaul is. This can support up to 37 1/2 pounds per bike and carry up to four bikes, so if you're looking for a way to get you and your family's bikes to your destination, this can be a great way to do it, because it's a well-built rack with a lot of capability. Now, being a hanging rack, there are some limitations, the first being alternative frame bikes. more

Yakima RoadTrip 4 Bike Rack Review - 2015 Thor Miramar Motorhome- Video

Dustin: Hey, internet. It's Dustin here with etrailer.com, and today we're going to be showing you the Yakima RoadTrip on our 2015 Thor Miramar. Now this is an RV-approved bike rack, and the reason you would want that on your Miramar is because the axle sits far enough away from the rear on most RVs, including the Miramar, that you're going to get some sway and wobble back here that you wouldn't on a regular vehicle, and that can transfer to the rack. So on RV-approved bike racks, like the RoadTrip, there are less moving parts, it's more solid, and that's going to make a safer ride for your bikes.Like most hanging-style bike racks, it's going to hold our bikes in place by the top tube. It also features an anti-sway cradle, which is going to prevent any bike movement side to side, preventing bike-to-bike contact and bike-to-RV contact. Yakima LongHaul 4 Bike Rack Review - 2015 Thor Miramar Motorhome- Video

Hey everybody, today we'll be taking a look at the Yakima LongHaul on our 2015 Thor Miramar.Now, the LongHaul is an RV approved bike rack. That's something you're going to want to look for when adding a bike rack to the rear of your RV. And that's typically because the rear of the RV sits so far away from the axle that there's a significant amount of sway back here. And so RV approved bike racks have less moving components and there's less that can go wrong.Like most hanging style bike racks, it holds our bikes in place by the top tubes, with an anti-sway cradle here on the side. Yakima actually uses what they call zip strips to go in and secure the bike. There's just these levels on the side. more
